Overview |
| International Continuing Education Centre (ICEC) of the school started the Western Continuing Education Program in September, 2005. It is the first program in mainland China to offer w estern-style adult education classes to foreigners and local English speaking students. For the first time in China, expats have the opportunity to take daytime, evening, and weekend continuing-education classes similar to those taught in w estern nations. We recruit students in four semesters each year: spring, summer, autumn and winter. We have successfully run five sessions, and enrolled more than 350 expats from all over the world during its first year. The courses are taught exclusively in English by foreign professionals and business practitioners and cover a broad range of subjects that encompass both personal enrichment and professional advancement, including both creative pursuits and professional qualifications. Subjects available include Arts and Design courses like painting and drawing, interior design, and photography; and Sciences and Humanities classes such as self-hypnosis and creative writing. ICEC also offers a number of business oriented classes, such as project management, and business negotiation , and there is a course for students who wish to be qualified as a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language. In addition to these academic subjects, ICEC also provides a variety of classes in music and dance. Everybody will come away with something different, but for sure people will feel personally enriched and better equipped to face the job market. Courses at ICEC are designed and presented by teachers who combine both outstanding academic credentials and valuable real world experience. Among ICEC's lecturers are graduates of top Western schools such as New York University, MIT, the London School of Economics and the Sorbonne, while collectively their work experience includes big-name companies like Citigroup, JPMorgan, Dell and the BBC World Service, for example. ICEC is conveniently located on a new campus on Kaixuan Road, 5 minutes walk from both the Hongqiao Road and the Yishan Road metro station of Line 3 and Line 4. In terms of the learning environment, the modern Kai Xuan Road campus has Western-style classrooms with new audio, video and computer equipment available to students and instructors. The new ly campus is newly equipped with 65 classrooms, all furnished with multimedia facilities and air conditioners, thus creating an ideal study environment for students. Every year this campus receives over 20 visiting professors outside China who cannot help expressing their great acclamation for the advanced teaching facilities of the school. |
